Friday's Five, December 11

Every Friday, I pick five of the best products, services, books, etc. to have come my way.

#1 Knockout, Suzanne Somers

Whether you love her or hate her, Suzanne Somers has the ability to make you think. Her latest book, Knockout, details her personal experience with cancer and the doctors (some say quacks) who claim to be curing the disease. What Ms. Somers does so cleverly, is to point out the inadequacies of medical practice in the Western World and get people to examine and become accountable for their own health. Good for Oprah inviting her on her show to talk about Bio-Identical hormones. This is no "dumb-ass celebrity" as one naysayer recently called her. Rather she is a clever marketer and a very informed woman with a well-intended mission.

#2 Virus A-Tak

I've mentioned this product before. Twice now, Don has come home with a sore throat and "sniffles." Two Virus A-Tak capsules later, it's gone in a matter of hours. A week ago, I was also "coming down with something" and took it. Nothing developed. Manufactured by Webber Naturals, and available at most drug stores including London Drugs.

#3 Yes Organic Lubricant

Yes water-based lubricant is a natural bio-adhesive gel that adheres to the vaginal walls to lubricate, moisturize and protect the delicate surface layers of the vagina. It is hypo-allergenic, hormone-free, and condom-compatible. Free from parabens, other "iffy" chemicals, sugars and irritants and not tested on animals. Available from Futurenatural's website and here.

#4 Benefit Velvet Eyeshadow

The Where There's Smoke color is my new BFF eyeshadow! This stuff is amazing. It feels like cream but is a silky, well-pigmented powder that goes on oh-so-smoothly. Buildable or subtle, it looks a lot paler in the palette than when applied. Available wherever Benefit cosmetics are sold.

#5 Zoya Fall Nailpolish in Nina

I'm not usually a fan of darker polish on older hands unless your nails are kept fairly short (otherwise you'll look like Cruella...) This color is just gorgeous though and would look great on younger-looking Middle Ageless hands. Zoya polish is free from pthalates, toluene and formaldehyde. Available from Futurenatural.
