The ageless life

Hi all, this is going to be a bit of a catch-up post as I am getting caught up on a lot of stuff after a number of dramas of the domestic variety (not all my own).

It's the most glorious day in the rainforest, clear and cold and sunny. We are reading the Saturday papers and enjoying the break from the incessant rain that has marked the past month or so. Good for the skin of course, but not so for the soul.

On the gossip front, I see that good old Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood was taken to jail after a phonecall to the police from the awful Ekaterina. (She recently turned 20 and is out of diapers and into training pants.) This time, following yet another "spat," Ronnie apparently clobbered her one "on the high street" as one UK tabloid put it. (I never knew I had a "high street" but Don let out a salacious titter when I asked him about it.) Anyhow, the cops purportedly showed up and took the good ol' boy to jail. I wish I'd been there. I would have given them both a quick swat on the head and a kick in the derrière for Jo, who recently obtained her divorce. (You go girl...and find someone you are truly worth of.)

Back to skin and Middle Agelessness, I promise to get caught up on the reviews of Gretchen Rossi's The Gretchen Project (assuming they are still available...apparently the whole program was a colossal flop). I also want to report that my own facial skin is garnering one comment after another. It is way better than it has ever been, even in my teens, and is glowing, fresh and wrinkle-free. My newest routine includes the use of not one but four face creams on a rotating basis, and my two eye products that have completely obliterated wrinkles. When I don't have makeup on, my face is firm, completely unlined, has no hyperpigmentation and has a sheen to it— not a greasy one, but a true bloom of youth. I tell you this not to show off but to let you know that this is possible as I have had both wrinkles and a dullness in the past. Post-M, my skin is definitely the best it's ever been.

London Correspondent Miranda has recommended a book on body pH. It is called The Acid Alkaline Food Guide by Susan E. Brown and Larry Trivieri. I haven't read it yet but I did see a review where a long list of no-no foods is offered alongside foods that are good for the body and skin's pH. I noticed that I eat most of the good ones so more on this when I have read it. (Thanks Miranda.)

Here's what I am currently using on my face, eyes and neck:

pm: eyes - always SkinActives Bright-I

face: SkinActives Mitochondrial Booster Cream

neck: Shea Terra Naturals Rose Petal and Redbush Shea Butter Face Cream

am: eyes - always IS Clinicals Youth Complex, sunscreen

face: on a rotating basis, SkinActives Antiaging Cream, Remergent DNA Repair, 100% Pure Organic Coffee Cherry Caffeine Face Cream, Sunscreen

neck: SkinActives Antiaging Cream, sunscreen.

Once a week I use either Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Mask or Juara Turmeric Mask.

Unfortunately, the great skin doesn't extend to my arms. They look just as bad as ever in the "crook" and just above, and (so far) none of the treatments has worked. I have been using estriol in the morning, covered with Bio Oil, and Retin-A 0.1% in the evening. I'm back at the gym and they are well toned but the skin itself is really nasty - dimpled and crepey and puckered. Using skin "firmers" isn't an option as the structure of the skin needs to be addressed. Oh! by the way, the freebie laser treatment with the SmartXide CO2/fractional laser did absolutely nothing to improve the condition. I am currently pinching the area and using the dry brush twice a day to encourage skin thickening.

Three people have emailed me to ask what to do about dry lips (1) and dry skin (2) during the winter, so I will address this next, before the more complex postings about pH and the Fibonacci numbers. Don says Hi to all.

Thank you for your patience!
